I definitely consider myself an outdoor enthusiast; I get really enthusiastic about being outdoors, specifically lying in lounge chairs, drinking on patios, and eating al fresco. So naturally, after doing a little research on the George Street Pub (on the corner of George & Halsted -2858 N Halsted) and discovering they had a spacious patio out back, I had to go check it out.
We wandered in around 8:30pm on Friday and were pleasantly surprised to see that despite it being a busy Friday night (and the temperature actually tolerable), there were still several tables available on the patio for us to enjoy some outdoor dining.
Right away I was impressed by the beer selection, boasting a nice assortment of craft brews, plus your usual selection of draft and bottles, paired with a standard menu of fool-proof salads, sandwiches and burgers. In the end I opted for a cocktail (I had a rough week, ok) and the ham and swiss sandwich.
The vibe was lively but laid back and besides her questionable wardrobe choices (a crop top t-shirt, really?) our waitress was very polite and attentive. Apparently the outdoor patio is dog friendly on Mondays and Tuesdays, so I will be avoiding making a return trip either of those days, but I can definitely see myself becoming a frequent visitor to GSP.
